As I missed Monday due to being sick, I had to catch up on my idea generation for my Part 3 proposal, at first I was kind of lost in my head just kind of threading together anything I hadn't done or what I thought would be 'cool' (simple mind I have).

Having a new table I was given the opportunity to listen to ideas from new faces to me in my class, this gave me ideas of what others were thinking about and where they were at with their ideas. Still stuck on what I had to do though. I was very in this 'digital', 'cyberspace' idea but I was quick to lose my confidence and interest in it as I felt I was just thinking about outcomes and not about what the idea was trying to communicate.

Later on in the day (afternoon), we were tasked to go to the library, where I found myself reading books about cyberspace and the internet (retro internet). This did not help, and I felt I needed to work backward and stop researching an idea I wasn't certain about at all.

I ran into my friend Kaija in 2nd-year Graphic Communication and decided to do some work with her instead of heading home empty-handed and discouraged. Obviously, I had a catch-up with her as I hadn't seen her in over 2 weeks.

She told me to write down things I want to do and words I want to be involved in this project and just spoke to me overall, questioning every time I said something I liked or thought of to make me think of why and what it would communicate, this way of working really helped me. By the end, I had all these different words, phrases, themes, and mediums I wanted to explore. By the end of this process, I had thought of the idea, of photographing people, and the sentimentalities they hold. The way I came to this idea was through the words and a conversation we were having with her friends about lexicons and profile making which led to this idea of learning about people alongside photography. Kaija comes from this same group of friends back in Amsterdam we shared, and most of them take film photography which had got me inspired to indulge in it, mostly because I've always been interested and had never thought to do it myself and now I was jealous and wanted to indulge further.

Probably, one of my most successful days for brainstorming, sometimes I think I try too hard to think of ideas specific to certain topics without thinking about why. Speaking about ideas and topics and why help spark organic inspiration and let my ideas flow without being slow.

We also booked and organized to go try out exposing and enlarging items in a studio in Central Saint Martins. This is something I didn't know about but I think could work quite nicely with the belongings and sentimental items aspect of my project. This is for Wednesday next week.
